Really sad news to hear Julian Bream died yesterday at his Wiltshire home.
He was one of the great figures in the classical guitar world and played an important role in raising the profile of the instrument. It’s interesting to note that it was hearing Django Reinhardt that first drew him to the guitar, and then hearing Segovia led him to the classical style of playing.
I recall being transfixed watching him play both guitar and lute on various black and white television programmes when I was a child.
His contribution to the guitar and music world generally is beyond measure.
I think the only words to say are “thank you”.
